MensaMonkey's Cast of Characters

I like to think of the MensaMonkey as one of those toy magic 8-balls that gives you an answer when you shake it. Some random word pops up in a little window on the bottom of the ball that say, "Yes", "No", "Try Again Later", "Outlook Not So Good". Now, replace those words with symbols of six exchange traded funds, add a logic chip of some sort, add monkey, and voila!, you've got a bonafide monkey-enabled market direction indicator.

The MensaMonkey only chooses one ETF at a time from the
choices below:

QLD - Proshares Ultra QQQ 2x ETF (Very bullish)
IWM - iShares Russell 2000 Index ETF
XLI- Select Sector SPDR Industrial ETF
XLU - Select Sector SPDR Utilities ETF
BND - Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF
QID - Proshares Ultra Short QQQ 2x ETF (Very bearish)

Take a look at the five year performance of each of these
compared to the SPY...

Holding any one of these over this period of time would not amount to much profit. If a trader could take the best upward moves of each of these, the gains would obviously be astronomical, and that is just what the MensaMonkey is attempting to do.

MensaMonkey has not achieved astronomical gains but as you will see in future posts, the gains have been impressive and have outpaced the market by a wide margin since 2009. These results would look even more stellar if backtesting continued through 2008. It's not necessary to go back that far in time just to pump up the results. What is more important is the real-time testing that continues today and through the end of this year.

Stay tuned. Same monkey time, same monkey channel, and we'll take a trip into the mind of the MensaMonkey.
