Biotech: A Cure for the Common Cure

I often scan stocks of the biotech variety for price and volume spikes.  While lucky timing plays a role in a quick double digit gain, high volatility and momentum make these stocks worth the gamble when patterns repeat.

Although I do look at the fundamentals and technical set-ups, sometimes jumping in at a low volume, flat lining period works best regardless of whether or not the stock is making new highs or scraping new lows.  I could care less what disease these biotech stock are expected to cure just as long as I can time a drug trial announcement or buy-out news. Simple, right?  I have traded more of these than I can count and have seen a slow drift in price or a slight spike in volume precede large price moves.

I can only hope that these companies don't use monkeys as their lab rats.  We wouldn't want to spread any more monkey viruses around, now would we?  Ever wonder where all the soft tissue cancer came from?  If you received the polio vaccine back in the late 50's and early 60's, you might learn first hand.

"But they wouldn't do that to us!"

Hey, don't kill the messenger!

That's another reason why monkeys will soon rule the world.

Enough talk about one of the worst "mistakes" in the history of mankind.  Let's just keep on looking for a cure and forget all about the cause.  Without further adieu, here are my current, favorite biotech stocks that I expect to be 20% higher between now and September...

 The Good...

ACAD, Acadia Pharma (2 year chart)

MDXG,   MiMedx Group  (2 year chart)

 The Bad...

 And the Ugly...

DVAX, Dynavax Tech. (2 year chart)

From Wikipedia, so it must be true...

In 1998, the National Cancer Institute undertook a large study, using cancer case information from the Institutes SEER database. The published findings from the study revealed that there was no increased incidence of cancer in persons who may have received vaccine containing SV40.[59] Another large study in Sweden examined cancer rates of 700,000 individuals who had received potentially contaminated polio vaccine as late as 1957; the study again revealed no increased cancer incidence between persons who received polio vaccines containing SV40 and those who did not.

Phew! What a relief.  And these are the same guys who calculate the monthly unemployment rate, you say?
