Outperforming the Market Using the ACSI

The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) rates companies based on customer service and satisfaction. The companies with some of the highest rating have been known outperform the market by a wide margin. Look through the list of companies with a rating of 85 of higher and a potential powerhouse portfolio (say that three times) begins to form.

Take a look at the sample list below or go to the ACSI site for the full 2008 list. Some of these you know well.

AAPL
KO
CL (Colgate)
DPS (Dr. Pepper Snapple)
FDX (that's right...Fed Ex)
GOOG
GM (may be a timely pick?)
HNZ (H.J. Heinz)
HSY (Hershey)
TM (the king of the automotive jungle...yeah, i said it)

For a monkey, I'm bearish at the moment. No recommended buys now as almost every one of these stocks has been beaten down with a possibly greater beat down pending. When some sort of equilibrium in the market is found, some of these stocks will be worth a second look.
